PLENCO DLT is a strategic project for the sector, led by the Mobility and Logistics Cluster of Euskadi in collaboration with our partners Igarle, Wimbitek, Batura, Bizkaigar, and WeAreClickers. The ALIA cluster and ZZDataLabs also participate.

This project is an innovative initiative aimed at digitally transforming the road transport sector through the application of DLT technology and smart contracts. Its purpose is to improve transparency and efficiency in commercial transactions, reducing late payments and ensuring timely payment compliance in an automated and secure manner.

Through the digitalization of logistical and administrative processes, PLENCO aims to facilitate interoperability between shippers, transporters, operators, and public administrations, enabling more precise control and more efficient supervision of milestones recorded throughout the transport process, from the loading order to the final payment. This solution responds to the need for modernization in a sector marked by business fragmentation and the lack of neutral digital verification tools.

The project development is structured in several phases:

In its first phase, PLENCO designed a new type of smart contract capable of adapting to regulatory changes and verifying all critical transport milestones.

In the second phase, the project advanced with the creation of a laboratory technology demonstrator, initial integrations with TMS, mobile apps, operational DLT nodes, and a back-office for system visualization and management.

Now, in its third phase, PLENCO takes a decisive step towards real-world use in the sector. This phase focuses on three major objectives:

  1. Validate the system in real operating conditions by deploying it in transport companies and shippers to evaluate its robustness, scalability, and practical utility in real work situations.

  2. Integrate the subcontracting chain, ensuring that deadlines and events are properly reflected throughout the entire logistics chain while maintaining necessary confidentiality between parties.

  3. Lay the foundations for state-level adoption through sectorial materials, impact analysis, communication with public administrations, and the development of a strategic exploitation plan that explores potential future deployment models.

The project aligns with national and European digitalization, interoperability, and trust technology strategies. Its progress contributes to improving the competitiveness of the transport sector, driving a safer, more efficient, and transparent model in payment deadline management and the traceability of logistical milestones.
